It requires extensive hands-on, in-class practice and the demonstration of acquired skills.

This training will teach the mechanics and techniques of interpreting. Each session will provide extensive information on interpreting methods, roles, professionalism, ethics, cultural considerations, and the various contexts in which interpreters are often called upon to work. It requires extensive hands-on, in-class practice, and the demonstration of acquired skills.

  • Training Delivery: 15 hours of synchronous real-time training with an instructor (attendance required) combined with 25 hours of asynchronous self-paced training.
    • Synchronous Learning: Online classes will begin on January 15, 2024, occurring every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. There will be a total of six live sessions led by an instructor.
    • Asynchronous Learning: Study at your own pace. Students are required to complete the 25 self-paced modules by January 31st.

Mayra Cepeda, BA, MAGL, CMI

Professional Interpreter and Trainer for Translation & Interpretation Network LLC

Mayra Cepeda’s passion for languages and love of learning have served her well in her professional career. She began her career as a teacher, primarily in the private school sector for various grades and levels of Spanish, including Advanced and AP Spanish in the Foreign Language subject area. She retired from teaching for school-age children and decided to further her studies to become an Interpreter as well as teach adults and professionals.

Mayra was immediately hired by Translation & Interpretation Network (TIN) in 2016 as a Spanish Community Interpreter. Additionally, she continued her studies to earn the CMI- Spanish credential for Medical Interpreter in 2017, adding an area of specialty to her on-site interpreting appointments.

Mayra has a BA in Spanish from the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, TX, and a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX. She has the Certified Medical Interpreter credential from the National Board of Certified Interpreters (NBCMI) and is a member of the Texas Association of Medical Interpreters (TAHIT).

Mayra is a certified medical interpreter and since 2023, a cross-cultural interpreter trainer. She is a dynamic experienced language teacher who has the ability to connect with her students in a personal way and challenge them to believe in themselves and excel in the Interpreter profession arena. Additionally, those same skills used to teach language are enhanced as an interpreter trainer. She continues to sharpen her craft by attending seminars, conferences, and workshops related to her profession, as well as continuing to stay active on the field to further her skills as a professional interpreter.
